Ardsley Park Spinster's Home .... Oh My!

Today, a Saturday that I should have spent cleaning and packing for my trip to England, and what did I do?? Another darn auction. My new addiction! I need to find a very wealthy man to support my new addiction..

(On the other hand..speaking of my addictions.. and food being the worst of them ... I am now 3 weeks 3 days into no sugar, and very few carbs.. although I must admit to having two hushpuppies with my grilled flounder and broccoli tonight :( Yes, like an alcoholic or drug addict, I have to keep exact count of how many days I have resisted temptation. OK.. enough of that painful conversation..)

I read about an auction in Ardsley Park on 52nd Street.. and I LOVE ARDSLEY PARK! This auction happened to be at the former home of a 90 year old Spinster named Anne Siegler. Within her home were the contents of her 90 year life and even included her childhood toys.  It appears she had never gotten rid of anything! And over the past years, the house had begun to fall down around her. Evidently, she had no one to help her or maybe she was no longer aware that she had a hole in the ceiling and critters living amongst her things... Rest her soul!  Very sad way to end your life, indeed. She gave her estate to the Catholic Church and an auction house was entrusted with selling her things. AND OH WHAT COOL THINGS THERE ARE!

The auction started Friday from 10am - 3pm and continued today 10am - 3 pm, and will be again Sunday 1 - 4 pm.  I understand I did not miss too much and that it was mostly books. From the looks of things this morning, I would never have realized anything was missing from the house there was so much. (Gosh I hope people don't say that about me one day! HA)

I had noticed two Anthropomorphic items in the auction photos on AuctionZip.com so thought I would go see if they still had them.. THEY DID!

These photos are from the AuctionZip website as I have misplaced my charger. And this is just a very tiny look into what was available...

Lots of Knick-Knacks. The Green Pitcher and non-matching cups went for $45! The Yellow dish with flowers went for $2. I would love to have the lil Goebel Mug of man in tux. He went for $17.50.

These were AMAZING! By McCoy, and just like a bigger one that my mother has. They were great! Sold for $55

This Rooster looked to be from 80s - 90s. Sold for $25! OVERPRICED! Would loved to have bid on that Aqua Bread Box!! Evidently it sold on Friday :(

These are the things I bid on and won.
I won the lil Shirley Temple Cobalt Blue cup from the 1930s on left ... $5

I won the two Anthropomorphics (Orange Teapot and Garlic dish) $10

I wont the set above left in white with Blue and Yellow (Coffee Pitcher, napkin holder, salt pepper, sugar) $10

PRESIDENT STREET AUCTION, Part II

So Monday Night, March 5th was the auction on President Street. I believe it was actually  called Thomas and Co. Auctions. What a Treat! and So glad I went.. Totally blaming Lonnie Ellis for  my new fascination with the Auction World.

The auction started at 6 pm, preview at 5 pm along with FREE BBQ!! Dinner included Boston Butt, Potato Salad, Rolls, Savannah Scones .. and all the beer and wine you could drink! WELL WORTH THE TRIP!

I missed the first 10 minutes of the auction although I had reserved a seat on the third row..but was stuck in line for the BBQ. Oh well..

This Auction was a cut above the Liberty Auctions. Sit in chairs with the Auctioneer at the front. Minions carried the furniture and such to the front. There were over 300 items and it lasted approx three hours.  I circled the items I LOVED LOVED on their printout... GAME ON...

The characters... "LESLEY and DEAN" Two Gay older gentleman who sat in front of me. Remember Lesley from WILL AND GRACE (little gay man?) Well these two were CLONES of Will and Grace Lesley and kept me giggling all night long! Lesley was the Boss, Dean was his lil slave.. They bid on anything Shiny, dangly and gawdy! LOVED THEM!

Behind me was a family I named THE HAROLDS. The Daddy Harold was so full of himself I wanted to punch him out. Full of himself and TACKY with his big fat belly and big brown wooden cross tied around his neck..  Mousy wife and ObNOXIOUS Sissy Son! YUCK YUCK!

Then there were the older Savannah ladies with their young gay man-friends and the Hippie Dippies! Those were my favs! GREAT PEOPLE WATCHING!

The bidding was fast and nothing went for a lot really.. but the few things I did love rose above my High Bid Quickly!  So.. see below and I have put the same pics from my Saturday Preview and I have listed the amount for which they were won...
