HOT HOT in Savannah and the Shopping is Easy .,, Part Uno!

Anticipation was building all week for my road trip to the neighborhoods of Savannah for Saturday Garage Sale Shopping.  I had been checking Craigs List periodically for the sales to explore. On Friday, my dear friend, coworker and kindred spirit, Camille, said she wanted to come with me! THANK YOU JESUS! So much more fun to shop with a friend!

I hit the road early yesterday at 7am. I arrived at Camille's house by 735am and we were off. first stop, Downtown Savannah random lil Garage Sale. Camille found an ALABAMA Tervis Tumbler $1, I found a Bracelet $.50, Chelsea Handler book $.50 and Very cool yellow and orange vase $1.50.

On to Ardsley Park and the numbered streets of Savannah. It is so hot out this Summer that there are not as many Sales as I would have hoped.. but we found a few. One had a Lemonade Stand with an adorable cat named DangerMouth. I got an oversized Crock Pot for Vic, $1, really cute yellow bag $1, and Camille found a neat serving tray for $1.00 (I am holding it in photo below). We bought a few clothing items for ourselves at a sale for $.50 each and we also found some cute clothing for our kiddos at another stop along with a wooden Peace Sign necklace I bought for $1.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Patriotic July Yard Art!

and a Minty Green Truck..

We then headed out toward Skidaway/Sandfly. I wanted Camille to see the adorable little neighborhood called ISLE of HOPE. She pointed out BONNA BELLA Yacht Club on the way. And we found this random Alter behind the Savannah Italian Social Club.

and then on to Thunderbolt.. I MISS THUNDERBOLT!
In T-bolt, we found a garage sale on a corner. I bought a vintage horse head bookend for $.25, small acrylic yellow flowers painting $1.00, and the lady gave me a pair of old ceramic Pelicans for free. They have both been damaged and repaired.. but so darn cute!
Camille bought a Le Sac purse for $1, Retro Tree picture $1, and another ramdom vintage picture for free! Love that FREE!

Then we went to the CURIOUSITY SHOP in Thunderbolt and found a basket full of CHICOS Flip Flops for $5 a pair! PINK for Me, ORANGE and GREEN for Camille!

 and then we were off to Tybee,,,

First, we did a drive-by of Paula Deen's YA'LL COME INN ...

and then we hit the Muthaload of Garage Sales! MADE MY DAY! I spent $32, Camille $12.. and what we bought?

 Audubon Prints, Yellow bench, Cabana striped room rug, 2 Crab Trap Palm Tree photos framed, brightly painted metal table, wicker end table, Tiki God wall hanging, large blue jar for seashells, Wooden Seagull figure, Seashell tea towel, Seashell figure and a book.and Camille bought the incredible framed Riviera painting, tablecloth and ceramic napkin rings!
and it all fit in the back of my car!

Next, we had lunch at TYBEE SOCIAL CLUB located at Butler and 12th on Tybee Island. I had Mini Duo burger with Mango, crab and onion on top with Chips and Queso! Camille had Fish tacos! AMAZINGLY GOOD LUNCH! GREAT ATMOSPHERE!

Seems the owner is a big fan of killing large animals and hanging them on the wall.

On to SEASIDE SISTERS!!

This was Camille's first trip to Seaside! I THINK SHE LIKED IT! We had a BLAST!

"DESTINED TO BE AN OLD LADY WITH CATS"
"Behind Every Great Man is a Woman Rolling Her Eyes"

 One cannot go to Seaside Sisters without a photo with the TYBEE Life Preserver!
Then, back to Savannah and one last stop before heading home at the Habersham Antiques. We didn't find anything at Habersham, but we did have a good time!

Close up of Camille's fabulous painting!

and then I kicked Camille to the curb to find her own way home! :)

Tomorrow I will post pics of the things we bought.. and the things we didn't!

Wishing That I was in Valencia, Spain

I had a facebook message from my Sweet Lola today. She made it to Valencia, Spain after a 30 hr bus ride from Amsterdam. I wish I was in Valencia, Spain with her :)  She said it was an amazing place and that I would love it. It absolutely thrills me that my child loves to travel. That was definitely a gift she received from me. I, too, love to travel. Even if it is just down a new road or a left turn rather than a right... a new sight to see is an adventure for me. The world is a grand adventure indeed :)

I do miss my Sweet Lola :(

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SO... I am a bit behind on my Shopping blog so let me catch you all up..
Let me start with a lunch trip I took with my gals from work yesterday. Hardeeville, SC! This is truly the armpit of South Carolina! My girls and I decided to try The Cripple Crab (Yes CRIPPLE not CRIPPLED.... possibly a warning). It is located in "downtown" Hardeeville. OH MY GOSH! IT WAS DISGUSTING! But we made the best of it.. laughing at how horrible the food was and taking photos of ourselves out front. :) and also, of the Pink and Gray Elephants in the Fireworks shop Parking lot! HA HA.. Only in Hardeeville!
Funny girls! Torrie, Me, Camille
Me with the interns.. Torrie and Neha
with the Elephants!
So let me back up a bit.  Saturday was not a good day for me. Vic and I attempted Garage Sale shopping in Bluffton but they SUCKED! This put me even in a worse mood. When we returned home at approx 930am, I proceeded to put my pj's back on, got back in bed, and covered up my head. That is where I stayed until Sunday morning.
So Sunday we had BIG BIG Plans and I was not going to FUNK my way through another day. Got myself UP, got dressed and packed for the beach! We spent a glorious day of nothing at Secret Beach at Tybee Island. I do LOVE ME SOME SECRET BEACH!
Loving my lil Seashell TYBEE sign in the sand! I think I will print this and frame it and put over my bed!
 I collected Seashells (one of my most fav things in the world to do), I watched the Sea Birds fly about, I watched the Shrimp boats come in and out, I read Corrie Ten Boom's TRAMP FOR THE LORD, and I watched the Dolphins play! AMAZING DAY! I NEEDED THAT!
We stayed from 930 am until 200pm then headed home. Made a stop at SEASIDE SISTERS (One of my favorite stores EVER!) and I had a peek around for inspiration, ideas and bought an adorable Crab Tea Towel $6.50.
I know I can make these! Going to put these into my idea book!
Loving the color in Seaside Sisters!
Then, we made a quick stop at Lazeretto Creek Seafood to grab some Fresh Georgia Shrimp and Mussels for a Low Country Boil (Georgia Style). Got to see a trapped Mama Raccoon about to be reunited with her babies across the creek! (SHE WAS SOOO MAD!)
Love me some YELLOW WALLS!
Mad Mama!
Home by 430pm and OHHHHH THE GRUB WAS DEE-LISH!!! Along with a FABULOUS Bottle of Moscato (My new Fav wine, Thank you Sista Carol for my new addiction!)
Shrimp, Mussels, Clams, Corn, Potatoes and Moscato!
Now that is a Pretty Table!
So what did I buy this weekend?
Vic found a Casserole Cookbook $1 and a Roasting Pan $2. We are going to FEAST on ROAST BEAST tonight, in fact!
I found my fav childhood books in a Boxed Set! $3. Also, found an off-white queen-size Matte Laise $1 and a crocheted queen bed skirt $1.
LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE Boxed Set $3.00
I ran by a random little Consignment Shop in Pooler called UPSCALE RESCALE on Wednesday. I didn't see anything I liked but I did find a flyer for a new Thrift Store called NOAH'S ARK and all sales go toward a Pet Rescue Farm.  I headed over to Noah's Ark and found the cutest needlepoint POODLE framed picture. No price, she sold it to me for $2.19!  I also found Disney's BRER BEAR. Being the Disney Nerd I am I could not leave him behind. $6.25.
POODLE!
 Last, but not least. Yesterday afternoon, Camille and I went to see CAPTAIN AMERICA! Fabulous flick if you have not seen it! I went by the Bluffton Goodwill on the way home and found two wonderful wooden chairs for us to refinish this fall.. Total Price $2.18!!!
Also, Tuesday afternoon, I ran by the Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store to take a look around. The wooden bench was still there and had been reduced to $15! I bought it! Cannot wait to refinish that one! Must remember to pick it up Saturday Morning....
OK.. THE END ....
and
HAPPY SHOPPING!
If I Had a Million Dollars...
So you know that song.. IF I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS by the Barenaked Ladies? Well, today I decided what I would do with my million...
Last Thursday afternoon, while at the Bluffton Farmers Market, a vendor told me about The Pick Pocket Plantation in Beaufort http://pickpocketplantation.com/ and that I needed to visit on a Tuesday afternoon for their Farmers Market. Well, today was a gorgeous afternoon with crisp blue skies and temps around 88. I decided a perfect day for the 23 mile journey north up Hwy 170 across the Broad River and into Beaufort. It took me a few trips around town to find The Pick Pocket and when I did find it.. OH WOW!
What an AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL Place! I wanted my mom to be there to see it.. and my sisters and my cousin Vickie and my niece Melissa and my Logan...
This was originally the Trask Farm which, evidently, was a mainstay of Beaufort. It is now maybe 10-20 acres and right in the business district of Beaufort. At one time I am sure it extended in several directions as their is a Trask Parkway that runs behind the property and past the Marine Corp Air Station. It is just a neat place! You can tour the house (I did not and will save that for when next mom comes to town); you can walk the grounds you can peruse the market (only about 12 booths); you can watch the horses enjoy the sunny day!
There were some amazing Chickens!
These funky chickens had some serious feather issues!
And incredible old cars!
I bought a couple of Scones $5, one blueberry and one cranberry-orange, from The Cottage booth (The Cottage is a fabulous restaurant on Calhoun Street here in Bluffton). And I bought some Lemon Basil for $1 from a nutty lil lady just because she was so eccentric and unusual and wow does it smell amazing!  And I bought an amazing Citrus Tea for $2.
From the front porch of the Plantation House
So an amazing place! And everyone should visit! I emailed the owner as soon as I got home to see if, by chance, he was planning on having a Fall Antiques Festival there this year... would be the PERFECT location!
Next, on to the Beaufort Goodwill where I found a Quilted tablecloth, $2.99, a vintage twin bedspread in pink and white with gingham lambs $2.99, a luggage rack for the guest room $7.97 and a gorgeous silk green cardigan $4.79.
Back to the million dollars.. and If I had it...
There is an amazing rundown place called The Lemon Island Marina on the Chechessee River as you head back south on 170 toward Bluffton. It looks like it has been out-of-business for years.  But.. if I had a Million Dollars..
I would buy it, renovate it, put in a Bait Store, Snacks and Drink stand, Gas Station for the boats, and a lil B&B for weary travelers that might want to come up on their boat or by land. I would have great music at an outdoor bar with a lil Southern Rock, sometimes live, playing every weekend.
And I would have an old fish camp (Google Beaufort County Fish Camps.. I discovered them in the Beaufort Magazine this past weekend! HOW FUN and great History!)
Ohhh.. If I had a Million Dollars....
